Manual Handling

Safe Manual Handling

  • 40% of accidents at work occur due to incorrect manual handling.
  • It is vital to be able to lift and carry objects safely.
  • If the item is heavy then get someone else to help you, allocate one person to call the signals.
  • Check to see if there is a trolley to move the item on.  If you use a trolley, lean in the direction you are pushing or pulling.
  • Sometimes specialist equipment is required.
  • Check the path for obstacles.
  • Bend with your knees and keep your back straight.
  • Don’t twist as you pick the item up.
  • Keep the object close to you.
  • Take your time.

If you are injured at work you must inform the manager and fill out the accident book on site.

Regency Recruitment must be informed of any accidents.
